Cadets
New Entry
As soon as you join.
Ordinary Cadet
After you sit and pass the OC test.
Ordinary Cadet
After you sit and pass the OC test.
Able Cadet
After you sit and pass the AC test.

Leading Cadet

After the unit commander nominates you to the Leading Cadet course, you then carry out tests through out
the one week course and when/if you pass the course, it is then the unit commanders decsion upon promoting you.
Petty Officer Cadet
After you have passed the Leading Cadets course and the Petty Officers course(which is along the same lines
as the Leading Cadets course), and then again it is up to the unit commanders decsion weather or not you get promoted.
Chief Petty Officer Cadet
To be promoted to Chief Petty Officer, you have to be the age of 16, and have been a Petty Officer Cadet
for at least six months. It is then up to the unit commander.
Master Cadet
To be promoted to Master Cadet, you have to be the age of 18, and then it is up to the unit commander.
Officers
Civilian Instructor
Civilian Instructors are what their title says, 'civilian instructors'. These are people who have given
up their free time to come and help local Sea Cadet units, and the cadets are thankfull and give them the respect that they
would give an Officer. If the civilian instructor wants to be commissioned into the Cadet Forces, he/she has to serve at least
one year minimum as a CI(civilian instructor).
Ensign
The abbreveation for Ensign is Ens.
Sub Lieutenant
The abbreveation for Sub Leiutenant is SbLt.
Lieutenant
The abbreveation for Lieutenant is Lt.
Lieutenant Commander
The highest rank attainable by Officers within the NZCF(New Zealand Cadet Forces) The abbreveation for Lieutenant
Commander is LtCdr.
