Welcome to the Website Of TS Leander Sea Cadets

Take a look around

Greetings! This site was made for the Sea Cadet unit 'TS Leander'. They are based in Auckland, New Zealand. The unit is part of the NZSCC(New Zealand Sea Cadet Corps). I hope you find the site useful and full of information. Any comments? Send them to the unit address at: Leander1@ihug.co.nz

TS Leander, a Sea Cadet unit of the New Zealand Cadet Forces, provides an interesting and challenging environment for young people.

Activities covered include: Sailing/Boat work, First aid, Parade training and drill, Visits to/sea time on RNZN ships, Water safety, Shooting, National training camps and courses, Team building exersices.

While the unit is run along semi-military lines, including drill training, the emphasis is on developing self-discipline and confidence. Sea Cadets wear the same uniform as the Navy, but it should be noted that they are not part of the Armed Forces.

Young people between the ages 12 and 16 are welcome to join. For more information contact the Unit Commander, or drop in for a look during parade hours:

TS Leander 64 King Edward Parade Devonport PO Box 32 361 Auckland PH.(09)445-6604 E-Mail: Leander1@ihug.co.nz
Parade Hours:

Wednesday 1845-2100(6:45pm-9:00pm)
(Every Wednesday night, during school terms)

Sundays 0800-1500(8:00am-3:00pm)
(Decided on Wednesday nights)

The objective of the Sea Cadet Corps builds in every cadet a sense of patriotism, courage, self-reliance and confidence; those qualitites which will mould good moral character and citizenship. It also aims to raise the prestige of a naval career. A proportion of cadets join the RNZN or other Armed Forces when they leave Sea Cadets, but it is emphasized that the choice of such a career is by no means compulsory.
